Founded by Alan Weiss, Automatic Talent has deeper roots in the music industry than almost any other music production company in the world. In 1949, Alan's father Sol Weiss co-founded Fantasy Records (green building - 654 Natoma, San Francisco), developing the company into a premium West Coast jazz label through 1967. Artists published by Fantasy Records during this period included Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Vince Guaraldi, Cal Tjader, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Odetta, Charles Mingus, Sonny Rollins, Sarah Vaughan, Wes Montgomery, Korla Pandit, Count Basie, Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker,
and many other jazz masters.
Fantasy also published spoken word albums by
Allen Ginsberg, Lenny Bruce, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

Vince Guaraldi's "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" won a Grammy in 1963 for Best Original Jazz Composition. Vince and Sol worked together to tailor Vince's sound for "A Charlie Brown Christmas", the most beloved Christmas television special of all time.
After learning and working with his father, and then working in the music business for over 20 years, Alan Weiss created AUTOMATIC TALENT to craft new music into reality and to promote new artists.
Music is what we know, play, produce, engineer, and love. There is always something new that can be discovered by mixing beats, tempos, rhythms, and melodies. We are committed to discovering the creativity artists possess and bringing them to new heights.
